Afghan Voice started in 2010 as an initiative of an Afghan and a Dutch, two media and community broadcast enthusiasts who noticed the need of a professional independent community media organisation within the Afghan Diaspora in the UK.

This initiative transformed into a professional, fully licensed independent community Internet radio station known as Afghan Voice Radio (AVR), broadcasting 24/7 since January 2011.

Due to increasing demand from the Afghan communities across the UK, EU, US, Asia and beyond we grew from a radio station into a community media organisation, registered as a non-profit Community Interest Company, Afghan Voice CIC, since 2012.

We develop media skill share workshops, community projects and mentoring programs.  Afghan Voice CIC is multi lingual, serving in English, Pashto and Dari.

Our vision for the coming 5 years is to start broadcasting on our own FM channel and launch our own online community TV station.

Since we like to stay independent we rely on donations by listeners, grass roots funding, fund raising events, sponsorships and grant applications. We do not rely on State funding. We can accept cheques, bank transfers and Paypal payments. For questions about financial donations, sponsorship and fundraising ideas: info@afghanvoice.org.uk

Afghan Voice Radio is a community Internet radio station, connecting the Afghan Diaspora with each other, with the wider community around them and with Afghans in Afghanistan.

Afghan Voice is run by volunteers and we broadcast live radio shows every week. From talk shows by and for women, insight shows, discussions, special guests, to live performances and entertainment.

It is a safe space for Freedom of Expression for Afghans from all walks of life. We welcome everyone who supports our aims.
By serving in different languages we lower thresholds and open doors, connecting people.

Afghan Voice CIC aims to give Afghans to create a safe space to practice their freedom of expression.

- We want to provide inclusion of all people and all opinions where this inclusion is not threatening or exclusive to other parties.

- We aim to build bridges between different communities and create a network of friendship.

- We aim to create more understanding for Afghans and Afghanistan, cultures, principles and faiths.

- We aim for active participation and positive social change.
Afghan Voice CIC depends on the input of volunteers, contributors and members. Some volunteers are very skilled and talented, but you do not have to be a professional to get involved. If it is visual, audio, writing, reporting, we can help and guide you. Simply go to the Join AVR page and fill in the request form.

You can participate in a project, become a committed volunteer, contributor or reporter, but we can also offer students a work experience placement with us.
